Civic Events

To mark special events or achievements, the Council may provide hospitality in the form of a civic reception. These can range from small buffets and presentations to formal dinners depending on the nature of the occasion, the number of participants and the room. The events are funded by the City’s Inverness Common Good Fund and as such have to be of benefit to the city of Inverness and /or its residents.

Examples include a welcome event for an international conference being held in the city, a reception to celebrate a major anniversary of a local organisation, or recognise a outstanding individual or group of people.

The “Civic Events Application Form” must be completed by any individual or group seeking funding from Inverness Common Good Funds. Applications within the Inverness area are considered by the Inverness Common Good Fund Sub- Committee. Applications are looked at to ensure that the project is appropriate for the purposes of delivering benefit for the Common Good and the residents an assessment is also made to check what alternative sources of funding have been accessed, if any.
